The news is filled with less than positive about black women right now. Instead of focusing on the negative, I want to shed some light on an oldie but a goodie story about 2 female rappers. According to Lil Kim, when she went to purchase her domain name, she found out that someone had already bought it. Kim was prepared to have to part with around $50,000 to buy her domain name, which was common at the time. People would buy celebrity domain names and sell them to the owner at exorbitant prices She called the domain owner, and it turned out to be none other than Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes from TLC. It turns out that Left Eye had the foresight to buy her friends’ domain names. Left Eye died in a car crash in 2002, but who knows what could have come from her business savvy in technology. Watch Lil Kim tell the story below:
In the 90’s before celebrity websites were popular TLC’s LeftEye bought the websites of her celeb friends, so people wouldn’t buy them & try to overcharge a celeb for it.
